Historic Houses in Cornwall

Some of Cornwall's Historic Houses, Gardens, Interesting Buildings and Galleries

Antony House and Gardens  Torpoint.  An early 18th century mansion set in parkland and fine gardens overlooking the River Lynher.  Antony House has been home to the Cornish family of Carew for almost 600 years and the house contains a wealth of paintings, tapestries, furniture and embroideries.  Fine walks in the parkland and woodland garden.

Cotehele  Near Saltash.  Owned by the Edgcumbe family for nearly 600 years, the house has evolved from its early origins though retains a medieval atmosphere.  Terraced gardens with pools and a dovecote, a working watermill and adjoining ciderpress as well as contemporary furnishing and objets d'art.  The Victorian river quay with the last Tamar sailing barge "Shamrock" moored alongside, harks back to a busier time on this waterway.  National Trust owned.
