A stay at Seatoller House is something quite different from the run-of-the-mill hotel experience. You eat communally at set times, and to get the best out of the place you should take part in the social life of the house. Seatoller House is over 300 years old and has been run as a guest-house for over 100 years; the first entry in the visitors’ book reads 23 April 1886. The long, low house, built in traditional Lakeland style and looking like a row of cottages, is in the tiny village of Seatoller, at the head of Borrowdale and the foot of Honister Pass. Bedrooms are simple and comfortable, and all now have their own bathrooms (although some are physically separate from the bedrooms).Tel & Fax (017687) 77218
