Yet another grand old house rescued from decay in the late
1980s and put to new use – in this case, a bed-and-breakfast
guest-house. The house is a beautifully proportioned, stone-built, dating from 1640. It sits quite close to a busy main road on the outskirts of an unremarkable town, but is well shielded by trees (look for the signs, because you will not spot the house).
Inside, all is as you would wish. A flagstone floor in the bar/sitting-room, oak beams, log fires and pretty floral fabrics here and in the breakfast-room and sitting-room, which is full of books. The beamed bedrooms are spacious, with restrained decoration – perhaps rich floral drapes against plain white walls – and several different styles of bed.TEL (01225) 790555 FAX (01225) 793147 |
